Daciana Petran

Daciana speaks, and it thunders. Cunning and fearless, she commands beasts, storms and the Fates themselves. A vrăjitoare of Bucharest, she speaks the descântece, incantations passed from elder women to younger under strict taboo, to lift the evil eye and undo malevolent magic. She reads thunder and earthquakes in the old Gromovnic and knows the legends of the Solomonari, who rode dragons through the storm. She works her strongest spells at the Witches' Pond on Sânziene and Saint Andrew's Eve, and in her lamplit parlour she reads cards, coffee grounds and molten lead.
